If only I had taken a proper picture of this person's Christmas display, it would be my icon for ages. this family have not only bedecked the front and back of their house in millions of lights and Santas, they have giant six foot light-up statues of snowmen, Father Christms, Christmas trees, Scooby doo and Homer Simpson on their driveway and on a patch of grass opposite them. And there is tinkly tinny Christmas music playing somehwhere in the background as you approach the house. My God. I really like it, but their housing association doesn't, even though it's raising money for charity, so I had to write a news story on the family's grief for their lights display.
Other than that, I have been writing lots and lots of stories on nativity plays. I have visited loads of schools in the area and chatted to lots of headteachers and kids in fairy/Joseph and Mary/ etc costumes about their plays. I don't mind this, but I wish my boss would let me go to a court case or an inquest or just let me write something interesting.
In my Christmas plays at school, I played a daffodil at playschool, a village idiot in Dracula Spectacular, Indigo in the colours of the rainbow for Hiawatha (sp!), a waiter in some other play I can't remember. The highlight of my school acting career was Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire.
How about everyone else?
