Subject:Goodbye - eeee ....

I was going to begin a whole new live journal yesterday, but I didn't want to begin it with sad news. So I have decided to end this one today instead, with two goodbyes

One to this journal (I'll let you know when I've started the newie)

And one to my cat Mog, who died yesterday morning at the ripe old age of 16.

Yeah, you may think I'm being daft getting sentimental over a cat (but if that's the case you can go shag yourself). Mog hadn't been well for ages and it's best she passed away for her sake really, but it's very sad! She lived just long enough for Christmas Day though, so, being the eternal guts that she was, she spent her last days eating loads and sleeping loads. Just like her whole life really! :-)

See y'all later! :-)

My mum buys ribbon for wrapping gifts, leaves it on her bed. Returns to room seconds later to find ribbon gone without trace. A few hours go by, and my sister is in the house. Notices something strange about the cat Amber. Amber has a piece of ribbon sticking out of her bottom. Sister attempts not to vomit. Sister's boyfriend James performs unpleasant but necessary removal operation. Amber gains colonic irrigation, but never, ever goes near James again.

Oh yeah, hope you weren't eating!!!

So, now that I'm not job hunting or have lots of free net surfing time in my workplace, I've had v little to say lately! :-/
I got my first front page for the Northants Evening Telegraph today! :-) It's not even a local story really, just about the fact that satsumas are going to be extinct because producers from other nations say most consumers prefer clementines and mandarins. In fact, it's only the British that like them! So Tesco has this big campaign to save the little orange fellas from extinction. I was sent to the local branch to interview lots of customers about the satsuma ("Hi, I'm from the Evening Telegraph ... er, do you like satsumas?") and write up this press release, which made the front page, yay! www.northantsnews.co.uk is where to read it, if you're interested (ho ho).
Spent loads of money on Christmas dinner the other day. On the menu is turkey lurkey (mmmm), potatoes, kale, carrots, parsnips, cranberry sauce, stuffing, breaded mushrooms, mulled wine, vodka, Guinness, cookies. MMMMMM!!!

Oh yeah ... plans for birthday drinks in London, for reasons beyond anyone's control, went tits up ... except I got to go out in MK with iceinthecider and her friend Matt so that was cool! The amazing Miss Fliss got tickets to The Wedding Present, thanks babe! Wow what a wonderful surprise, I cannot wait, I'm gonna see em with iceinthecider, oh my God! :-) I also got a big bucket of sweets, a necklace, a top, a puffy fish from Finding Nemo and these beautiful emerald earrings from John. On my birthday John and I went to the Olive Branch in Clipsham, Rutland, I think the staff thought we were a couple of students, so when we ordered a bottle of pink champagne like the twats/ cool people we are, they seemed surprised and started being quite nice to us!

So ... er... yeah. Watched that Trinny and Susannah party dress thing on TV last night. Good to see those horsey birds groping ladies privates without shame or fear. Dirty dirty old women!!

Hi!
More nativity plays, a spectacularly useless computer, an application to do another degree, this time in philosophy. My week in brief! :-),

If only I had taken a proper picture of this person's Christmas display, it would be my icon for ages. this family have not only bedecked the front and back of their house in millions of lights and Santas, they have giant six foot light-up statues of snowmen, Father Christms, Christmas trees, Scooby doo and Homer Simpson on their driveway and on a patch of grass opposite them. And there is tinkly tinny Christmas music playing somehwhere in the background as you approach the house. My God. I really like it, but their housing association doesn't, even though it's raising money for charity, so I had to write a news story on the family's grief for their lights display.

Other than that, I have been writing lots and lots of stories on nativity plays. I have visited loads of schools in the area and chatted to lots of headteachers and kids in fairy/Joseph and Mary/ etc costumes about their plays. I don't mind this, but I wish my boss would let me go to a court case or an inquest or just let me write something interesting.

In my Christmas plays at school, I played a daffodil at playschool, a village idiot in Dracula Spectacular, Indigo in the colours of the rainbow for Hiawatha (sp!), a waiter in some other play I can't remember. The highlight of my school acting career was Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire.

How about everyone else?

I spend quite a lot of work time using the internet system to access LJ, and they have never had a go at me for it. These people I work with deal with the most difficult people in the county, these housing officers have to put up with real bozoes who drag down the quality of life for everybody else who has to work and live with them. They are patient, kind, funny, clever and just fantastic, and I have been so lucky to work with them.

I have also met so many people who live in really dire circumstances and still stay sane, happy and wonderful and they have taught me a hell of a lot. I know I moan about tenants a lot but the truth is most people really are great, it's just that if you meet a bad person it can completely blow your faith in humanity and make you act like a git cos you think everyone else is.

I have just had a really sweet little presentation, where my boss made me this speech and I went red and didn't quite know where to out myself. I got a lovely silver necklace and earrings and a card.

I have quite a cards from workplaces actually - five in the past two years (now six since Nov 02!), and now I am going to finally settle into a full time job and I don't want to leave for years and years. Time to get my act together I think!

Don't put 4-Head headache relief over your delicate eye area, no matter how bad a pain you have in your eye. It doesn't help.
